The necropolis of Poggio Montano, excavated in the early 20th century, was published in 2022 after overcoming a series of challenges, including the re-examination of archival documents lost and rediscovered only after meticulous research. The notebooks of Rossi Danielli, the scholar who investigated the site, proved essential for identifying the grave goods and reconstructing the spatial organization of the necropolis. The analysis of the burials and material culture of the necropolis reconstructs the image of a small yet wealthy community in inner Etruria, spanning the Iron Age and Orientalizing periods. This center was integrated into the network of trade and relations with other Etruscan, Campanian, and Padanian cities, all within the broader context of the ancient Mediterranean.
